Entering Dual ImmersionThe Dual Immersion Program is a district wide program open to any student entering kindergarten or 1st grade in the Mountain View Whisman School District (MVWSD). Inter-district transfers are permitted as space allows. Generally, there are more applicants to the program than there are spaces available. MVWSD students have priority over out of district students for the open enrollment period. Registration of native-Spanish and native-English speakers is treated separately in order to assure the appropriate Spanish-to-English language balance needed for immersion education. For information on beginning the program after 1st grade, please contact Dr. Judy Crates, Principal, Marino Castro Elementary School Each year in January, a number of informational events on the dual immersion program are held. These events will give you an opportunity to learn more, ask questions and meet current DI teachers and parents. Click here to download this year’s calendar (PDF). |
